ADNOC Headquarters Illuminated in Solidarity with Palestinian Independence
ADNOC headquarters lights up, supporting Palestinian independence amid ongoing Gaza conflict and solidarity.
The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has illuminated its iconic headquarters in the colours of the Palestinian flag, marking the anniversary of the Palestinian Declaration of Independence. The symbolic display was shared widely on social media by the Abu Dhabi Media Office on Friday, underscoring the UAE’s continued solidarity with the Palestinian people.
“The ADNOC building lights up in the colours of the Palestinian flag in celebration of the declaration of the State of Palestine,” the media office announced in a tweet, accompanied by an image of the lit-up skyscraper.
The Palestinian Declaration of Independence, proclaimed by Yasser Arafat in 1988 during a historic session of the Palestinian National Council in Algiers, remains a pivotal moment in the Palestinian struggle for statehood. The declaration established Palestine as an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, gaining recognition from over 100 countries shortly thereafter.
This year’s gesture by ADNOC holds particular resonance as it occurs amidst the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The war, which has tragically claimed more than 43,700 lives, has intensified international concern over the humanitarian and political future of the Palestinian territories.
The UAE has long advocated for a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, consistently supporting a two-state solution that envisions an independent Palestinian state. Through diplomatic initiatives and humanitarian aid, the UAE has reiterated its commitment to addressing the aspirations of the Palestinian people.
The lighting of Adnoc’s headquarters is a poignant reminder of the UAE’s alignment with the global call for justice and peace in the region. It also highlights the enduring importance of the 1988 declaration, which remains a cornerstone of Palestinian identity and independence.
